Details about Transtherm's Adiabatic Coolers | Adiabatic Cooling
Very effective management of Legionella risk

Thanks to a host of safety features, developed in conjunction with advice from The British Health & Safety Executive’s leading Legionella Risk Assessors, Transtherm’s Adiabatic Coolers are considered to be of a low Legionella risk. Since Transtherm Adiabatic Coolers do not collect or re-cycle the evaporative water they are confirmed under the very latest legislation as not requiring costly ongoing chemical treatment or registration with local authorities.
Low Legionella Risk
Minimal Maintenance Requirements

Transtherm’s adiabatic system only operates in the peak of summer (for approximately 3% of the year) and cooling requirements are handles in dry cooling only mode for the rest of the time. The system operates automatically when required including spraying, purging, auto drain down and UV sterilisation. Other than the direct drive fans with sealed for life motors and adiabatic spray pump there are no moving parts. As Transtherm’s adiabatic system does not re-cycle water using a collection basin and does not use cellulose wetted pads there are no complicated maintenance issues.
Minimal water use

IoT Ready Control Panels

All Transtherm Adiabatic Coolers include complete PLC based control panels that can communicate with a local BMS with Modbus or BACnet protocols. For worldwide communication availability every control panel includes a standard WiFi system or, alternatively, an optional 3G system can be specified. Transtherm’s Internet of Things ready controls offer a host of read only and read / write parameters including health status, dry or adiabatic mode, error messages, temperature set point adjustment and, using an optional power meter, instantaneous power consumption etc.

Who are Using Transtherm's Adiabatic Coolers | Adiabatic Cooling?
-
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
Transtherm were approached to provide 3 x large Adiabatic Coolers (1 x 768kW, 1 x 960kW, 1 x 1,152kW) to dissipate the heat from an absorption chiller circuit that is fired from the waste heat of a CHP (Combined Heat and Power) system.
-
Oxford Brookes University
470kW and 359kW Transtherm Adiabatic Coolers were supplied to dissipate condenser water heat from Absorption Chillers. Due to the hardness of the local water supply, the coolers were all supplied with Transtherm’s air inlet filters.
-
Toyota - Deeside, North Wales
2 x 2MW Transtherm Adiabatic V-Coolers were used to replace a large cooling towers. By using Transtherm adiabatic Coolers, the end user was able to eliminate ongoing chemical treatment and save huge amounts of water and energy.
