How shorter lead times can unlock significant savings
With some sources quoting 22 week lead times on cooling equipment from leading competitors, this seems like a good opportunity to remind the industry about the benefits of UK manufacturing.
Let’s start with the facts.
For almost 30 years, Transtherm’s coolers have been designed, manufactured, programmed and wired in our facility in Coventry. Whether you need a packaged free cooling system or a bespoke adiabatic cooler, our expert team can provide the solution you need in just five to eight weeks. With no need to unpack crates, assemble, programme or wire the kit on site.
Compare this with an imported model, which can take as long as 22 weeks in current conditions from some competitors, delivered in crates with no pre-programming or wiring. Of course this means it takes longer and is more expensive to install.
We know the importance of rapid deployment in time critical sectors, not only to maximise return on investment but to satisfy end user expectations too. We also know it’s imperative for many contractors to meet financial milestones of course.
To demonstrate the benefits, we’ve compared the cost, CO2 and energy savings that can be achieved through free cooling in the 14 week gap between our product and one from a leading competitor.
Based on a 500kW free cooler, we calculate:
- A cost saving of £26,295 – this is equivalent to 74% of our total equipment cost. In other words, with the additional energy saving factored in, it would be equivalent buying a Transtherm free cooler for only 26% of their normal price
- Additional 130 tonnes CO2 saving, based on DEFRA 2011 guidelines, including generation and transmission losses
- Energy saving of 269MW, based on average Met Office weather data
And if that’s not enough, we have averaged a 99% success rate on delivery schedules over the last eight years. Is it time you turned to the benefits of UK manufacturing?
